HumanitiesDC Oral History Collaborative + Extensions
DC Oral History Collaborative Grants support oral history projects that explore Washington, DC’s life, history, and culture through interviews with the people who have lived it. There will be an opportunity to request additional funds for translation of interview transcripts, as well as extensions of successfully completed oral history projects previously funded by HumanitiesDC.
The 2024 DCOHC Request for Proposal is now available, and the application is open.

HumanitiesDC Community Culture and Heritage Grant
Community Culture and Heritage Grants fund projects that capture the culture and narratives of DC’s communities for public audiences. These projects are showcased together in an annual culminating public event.

HumanitiesDC Oral History Collaborative Beyond the Archives
Beyond the Archive Grants fund projects that bring existing oral history interviews about Washington, DC’s life, history, and culture out of libraries, archives, and personal collections, and into the public view.

National Fund for Sacred Places
The National Fund for Sacred Places, a program of Partners for Sacred Places in collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, provides support to community-serving congregations in the United States and its territories that are undertaking significant capital projects at their historic houses of worship. Matching grants of $50,000 to $250,000 support the planning and execution of urgent capital projects at historic sacred places that are valued for their cultural importance as well as their role in providing human services, strengthening communities, and revitalizing neighborhoods. Wraparound services including training, technical assistance, and planning support are also provided. Grants of $50,000 to $100,000 require a 1:1 match, while grants over $100,000 require a 2:1 match.
Public Humanities Projects
National Endowment for the Humanities
The Public Humanities Projects program supports initiatives that bring the ideas of the humanities to life for general audiences through public programming. Projects must engage humanities scholarship to analyze significant themes in disciplines such as history, literature, ethics, and art history. The focus is on projects that are intended to reach broad and diverse public audiences in non-classroom settings in the United States. Project categories include exhibitions, historic places, and humanities discussions. Grants are available for planning and implementation. Optional drafts are due December 7, 2022. The application deadline is January 11, 2023.
Save America's Treasures
Save America's Treasures grants from the Historic Preservation Fund provide preservation or conservation assistance to nationally significant historic properties and collections. Properties can include historic districts, buildings, sites, structures, and objects, while collections can include artifacts, museum collections, documents, sculptures, and other works of art. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and require a dollar-for-dollar, non-federal match. The application deadline is December 20, 2022. Click here for more.
